Payment of remuneration for overtime In accordance with Hours of Work and Rest Law, remuneration for overtime for an employee in full time position is 125% for the first two hours beyond the workday and 150% for the third hour onwards. Pursuant to Section 5 to the Wage Protection Law, an employer is prohibited from setting global salary that already grosses consideration for overtime and/or annual leave, except for specific circumstances. Payment of wages for holidays The right for wages for holidays prescribes that an employee receiving monthly wages is entitled for payment for holidays. An employee for daily wages who worked no less than three months shall be entitled for payment for two years in Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, two days for Succoth, two days for Passover, Shavuot and Independence Day. Sickness pay An employee is entitled to receive 18 sickness days per year paid from the second day. The second and third day of sickness shall entitle the employee with 37% of the wages and from the fourth day onwards 75% of the daily wages. Sickness days can be accrued up to a quota of 90 days. Right for convalescence pay Contrary to other employee rights that were specified, the right to receive convalescence pay is not prescribed by law but in a general collective agreement to which an extension order was added. The purpose of this right is to assist an employee who works at least one year in the workplace to go on vacation and return reinvigorated to his workplace. The value of a convalescence day in the private sector amounts to NIS 365 per day and NIS 411 in the public sector per each day of convalescence. Provision for pension In the beginning of 2008 a new law providing protection to employee rights came into force this is the extension order for obligatory pension in the market. This order obligates employers to make provisions for employees for pension insurance for the employee. Exemption from income tax Blind, disabled persons with 100% disability degree, persons with 90% disability degree due to injuries to organs and whoever is permanently disable with a disability degree of 89% may be entitled to receive exemption from income tax. A person who was injured as a result of sickness or a work related accident and his claim was accepted by the National Insurance Institute of Israel will be requested to appear before a medical board of the National Insurance Institute of Israel.
